Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our product and the process from A to Z.

Why choose VESSEL?

Our monolithic precast concrete plunge pool is a step above the rest. Each VESSEL Pool is engineered for strength while delivering a crisp, modern design, and our cutting-edge monolithic casting technology produces a seamless tank with no cold joints. The interior can be economically finished in-house with diamond-tough VESSELKote, or fully customized on-site with glass mosaics or porcelain tile. Our engineering team includes world-renowned Watershape Consulting Inc. Unique features include our integrated skimmer and grand diagonal entry — the streamlined footprint makes above-ground or partially above-ground installations possible without designing around an external skimmer. A cast-in-place umbrella sleeve provides integrated shade, and our hydrostatic valve design simplifies onsite installation for builders.

What is a plunge pool?

Plunge pools are designed with a compact footprint while maintaining a 48"–60" depth — ideal for standing, swimming, and "plunging." There is no shallow end or diving depth. A plunge pool is more economical to heat or chill than a traditional pool, and rectangular models are easily fitted with a manual or auto-cover to maximize energy efficiency while minimizing evaporation, chemical consumption, and maintenance.

How much does a VESSEL Pool cost?

Prices vary based on pool design, equipment options, site conditions, and installation type. A VESSEL pool provides the durability of concrete with the economic benefit of engineered precast technologies. Submit our quote request form to start planning your project budget and timeline.

What additional costs should I expect?

Additional construction costs include permitting, freight, crane, and sitework. Other variables are pool equipment and extra features like a luxury tile interior, pool covers, and pool fitness equipment.

How long will it take to receive my VESSEL Pool?

The concrete pool shell — complete with standard interior finish, light, skimmer, and preinstalled plumbing fittings — can ship as quickly as 4 weeks from order date. Customizations extend lead time.

Can I order direct, or do I need to go through a pool builder/general contractor?

Pool installations require permits and licensed subcontractors to properly complete the work. It is not recommended to take on a pool install as a DIY project. We're happy to connect customers with our builder partners.

Do I need a pool safety fence around my pool?

Your municipality may require safety fencing, safety locks/alarms on points of entry from the house, a fenced yard, or other safety measures for the protection of anyone who may enter the pool area. Some pool covers may qualify as safety barriers depending on your city's requirements. Your builder can help you understand the required and safest approach.

Can I buy a "Blank Canvas" pool shell and DIY my interior tile?

Absolutely! One reason we developed this product was to provide a streamlined, tile-ready substrate. A VESSEL Pool can be tiled by any quality tile contractor, and we provide installation instructions so ambitious DIYers with tile skills can do their own work. Designers, creatives, and makers can contact us for custom, made-to-fit mosaic murals — a VESSEL Pool substrate is your blank canvas.

How do I get permits for my project?

Your builder may handle permits in-house, and we're directly linked with Watershape Consulting, Inc. for the procurement of permit plan sets.

What is your lead time?

Our standard pools typically ship within 30 days of order. Customizations will impact delivery timeline.

Do you coordinate the crane for the placement event?

The builder is responsible for ordering/scheduling the crane. We provide a lifting schematic and instructions for the crane operator.

Am I required to purchase pool equipment from you?

We understand builders have existing relationships with equipment manufacturers. Our goal is to simplify your process — we provide equipment package recommendations optimized for our pools, and builders are encouraged to order equipment through their ordinary sales channels.

Is financing available?

Not at this time. Please keep in touch as we develop this program.

What's the difference between precast concrete, fiberglass, or a shotcrete pool?

Precast concrete technology combines the durability of concrete with the efficiency of offsite fabrication, resulting in an extremely strong, highly engineered pool that can be installed in-ground while being ideal for above-ground and partially above-ground designs — great for streamlined budgets, short timelines, and sites with unique topography. Our plunge pools are monolithic, manufactured in a single integrated casting, so cold joints (potential leak points) are virtually nonexistent. VESSEL Pools are structurally engineered by Watershape Consulting, Inc., known for their expert work on the nation's most luxurious and technically advanced pools, spas, and aquatic environments.
